ABC is a non-invasive, advanced technology that helps patients hold their breath while receiving radiation therapy for areas affected by respiratory motion, such as breast and lung.
Using ABC while taking CT images provides a clearer and more defined image of the tumor. With thorough and detailed planning and imaging, the radiation oncologist will be able to use these CT images of the tumor to prepare a customised treatment plan so that the tumor can be precisely targeted with the highest, most appropriate dose of radiation while minimising radiation to surrounding healthy tissue. These images are also used to ensure the patient is positioned exactly the same during each treatment appointment.
